This is the largest family in the Dipsocoroidea with 13 genera and 61 described species.

Schizopterids are most likely to be collected in soil, leaf litter or at light in a wide variety of habitats from rainforest to grassland. Diet is thought to include other small invertebrates.


The Australian fauna consists of 3 subfamilies and 1 unplaced species Dictyonannus flavus . The subfamily Hypelosomatinae contains 9 genera and 35 species. The Ogeriinae has 20 species divided into 2 genera and the Schizopterinae has a single genus, Pachyplagioides , containing 5 species.
