The Aenictopecheidae are most closely related to the Enicocephalidae and are recognised as a subfamily of that group by some. Only 2 species have been recorded in Australia.

Very little has been discovered about the lifestyles of these rarely encountered insects. They have been collected in semi-arid NSW and in the rainforests of Tasmania from soil.

Australostolus monteithi and Nymphocoris hilli are the only two species recorded from Australia.
